1. Introduction

Sikh Investors Club ("SIC", "we", "us", "our") is a private, membership-based community operated as part of Bunga Azaadi, a Sikh think tank focused on statecraft, economics, and long-term wealth building.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data transparently and responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website, become a member, attend events, or participate in discussions.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide directly

We may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Payment and subscription status (handled securely via Stripe/Ghost)
  • Profile details (if added by you), including professional/profile information you submit for the members-only Talent Directory
  • Content you submit (investment ideas, comments, messages)
  • Communications with administrators or editors
  • Your phone number and messages, if you choose to join our WhatsApp community (collected and processed by WhatsApp/Meta directly — see Section 6)

b) Automatically collected information

We may collect limited technical data such as:

  • IP address
  • Browser type
  • Device information
  • Pages visited and interactions

This is used for security, analytics, and site performance only.

3. Membership & Payments

All payments are processed securely via third-party providers (e.g. Stripe).

We do not store your card or banking details.

We only retain records necessary to:

  • Manage access
  • Administer subscriptions
  • Provide support
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. User-Submitted Content

Members may submit investment ideas, comments, or other content.

Please note:

  • Submissions are reviewed by administrators for quality control and scam prevention
  • Approved submissions may be edited for clarity, structure, and presentation
  • Published posts may be visible to all paying members
  • Comments and discussion are visible to other members

You are responsible for the accuracy of any content you submit.

5. Events & Live Sessions

We run regular online events (e.g. Google Meet pitch nights, workshops, guest talks).

For events:

  • Registration details may be collected
  • Sessions may be recorded for members
  • Participant names or voices may be visible to other attendees

By attending, you consent to reasonable use of recordings within the SIC community and our social media unless stated otherwise.

6. Members Portal, Talent Directory & WhatsApp Community

Our Members Portal and Talent Directory are hosted on Notion, a third-party platform. If you use these tools, Notion processes the information you or we add there (e.g. your Talent Directory listing) under its own privacy policy and terms.

We also host a WhatsApp community for members. If you choose to join:

  • Your phone number and any messages you send are handled directly by WhatsApp (owned by Meta), under WhatsApp's own privacy policy — not by us.
  • Other members in the group can see your phone number and messages, consistent with how WhatsApp groups normally work.
  • We do not control WhatsApp's data retention, security, or international transfer practices, and are not responsible for them.

Joining these channels is optional. If you'd prefer not to have your data processed by Notion or WhatsApp, you can still access core membership benefits without joining them.

7. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Operate and maintain the SIC platform
  • Manage memberships and access
  • Moderate and publish content
  • Send newsletters and platform updates
  • Notify members of new posts and events
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, or scams
  • Improve the community experience

We do not sell your data.

8. Data Sharing

We may share data only with:

  • Trusted service providers (e.g. Ghost, Stripe, email delivery services, Notion)
  • WhatsApp/Meta, if you choose to join our WhatsApp community (see Section 6)
  • Legal authorities if required by law

All providers are required to handle data securely and lawfully.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to:

  • Provide services
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce agreements

You may request deletion of your account, subject to legal and operational requirements. Note that we cannot delete data already shared with or held by WhatsApp/Meta or Notion on your behalf — you would need to manage that directly with those services (e.g. leaving the WhatsApp group).

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion
  • Withdraw consent
  • Object to certain processing
